Hey, moms! Although we can’t bond face-to-face just yet, I wanted to check in on you and let you know that I’m here for you. How have you been handling daily life through this global pandemic?

I know times have been trying – with so many uncertainties, it’s understandable that our anxieties rise as we adapt to this “new” (but temporary!) normal.

As they say: “Ça va bien aller” – everything will be okay.

We’ve been handling our routine with a “one-day-at-a-time” approach. Here’s a more intimate look at how we’ve been tackling this challenging time. Hopefully, it will bring you some comfort!

How I’ve Been Coping

Eliminating Social Pressures

I can’t deny it – when social distancing began, I couldn’t help but play the ugly game of “comparison.” I would see parents posting elaborate homeschooling schedules on social media: sharing their activities, learning concepts, etc. I would think: “Oh my goodness. Am I doing enough?”

I’m here to tell you… yes, mama. You are always enough.

I always do what’s best for our family. I always do what fits into our routine.

Which leads me to my next point:

Moms, we’re all in this together. Let’s free ourselves of comparisons, judgment and gossip.

Did your kids eat more snacks than usual today? It’s okay!

Hey, it’s Okay…

A couple of weeks into this quarantine, I cut myself some slack. What works for one family may not work for another.

And you know what? That’s okay.

Did they sleep waaaaay past bedtime? That’s fine!

More screen time than what you usually allow? Hey, it’s okay!

Sit back and relax. Feel all of your emotions. This is a pandemic. You’re not expected to run a full-scale learning institution. It’s okay to do whatever works for you.

Fun in the Kitchen

Anyone who’s close to me knows how much I love to cook. That passion has evolved tremendously and now involves the entire family!

With more time on our hands, we’ve been exploring new recipes and cuisines. My husband and son are having a blast taking part in our culinary adventures! One thing’s for sure: this new habit is here to stay, even when we get back to our “typical” life.

Artists-in-the-Making!

My son has always been a sensory play kind of kid. Whether it’s slime-making or digging into sensory bins, he just loves exploring and getting messy!

Since we started practicing social distancing, he seems to have grown a love for all things art-related. Every morning after breakfast, we colour and listen to music. It’s definitely relaxing, and I plan to foster this new passion of his. Staying in has helped us discover some new hobbies!

Start Your Mornings Right

I’m all about setting the mood right at the start of the day. I keep our morning routine simple but joyful. We listen to light music and prepare breakfast together.

I regularly turn to Evive for a healthy breakfast. Evive’s smoothies are delicious, easy to prepare and get me fully energized.

I’ve been drinking Evive for over a year now. Having some familiarity throughout my routine is comforting during times like these.
